It is important that one intervention against childhood killer diseases must not be scaled down because of another. Comprehensive, holistic interventions are the strategies diseases of childhood can be adequately addressed.
Children will continue to die if improved immunisation dominates interventions agains child hood killer diseases without concomitant efforts to address other complementary areas of care. Such diverse and expanded interventions will be the saving grace of a child when infections eventually set in.
It must be born in mind that other contributors to child health like nutrition, improved living condition, education of caregiver, breastfeeding good community case management and deliberate, targeted efforts to combat poverty etc must not be neglected.
This is the only way that these diseases can be overcome, with attendant improvement in child mortality.
